An early morning tour by a group of Senior Credit Analysts from CBA, ANZ, BOQ and NAB, organised by Heritage Finance, gave the financiers an insight as to the strength of the Bus Industry, as well as an opportunity to see the various vehicles that they have actually approved funding for. The feedback from the Credit Analysts was very positive, which is particularly pleasing from an Industry perspective.

The chassis suppliers in conjunction with local and international bus body builders, were there in force to showcase a large selection of their Buses and Coaches, from mini buses through to the Articulated City Bus from Volgren and the Double Deckers presented by Bustech.

Component suppliers filled the first floor exhibition area, with Air-conditioning manufacturers, Seat Suppliers, Bus Parts and Destination suppliers as well as Tyres, Batteries, Brake Testing equipment – the list goes on!

With the conference session content ranging from pure technical operation of vehicles, Alternative Fuels presentations as well as Industrial Relations issues, the Bus Safety Act,  as well as looking at Network Planning for the Future, the Expo catered exceptionally well for all facets of the Bus Industry, from Technicians through to Managing Directors, all of whom are faced with the challenges of meeting operational and legislative requirements of the various State Governments.

With preparations under way already for next year’s event, it won’t be long before we are all back for the 2012 event!

Heritage Group Financier Seminar

The Heritage Group have established a long history of improving and enabling greater knowledge of its key market, the Australian Bus and Coach Industry amongst the general finance and banking industry.

In view of the unique post GFC environment to which all operators face today, and the greater need for support and knowledge within their banking and finance partners, The Heritage Group have taken on the responsibility to update that understanding by holding a one day Bus Industry overview for the banking and finance industry.

This seminar was enormously successful, and sold out within a week of announcement.  It was held on the 2nd of September 2011, and attended by 75 banking and finance representatives, lawyers and accountants also.

It is intended that this day be held annually and provide the platform for closer dialogue and participation between the Bus and Coach sector and their key partners within the Australian Banking and Finance community.

The day however would not have been successful without the enormous volunteered support of the following key industry participants and leaders in their fields:

The Dinner on Monday night was well attended, with speeches from the Minister for Sustainable Transport, Nick McKim, as well as the Federal Member for Tasmania, Senator Eric Abetz.

Several awards were given out on the night, with Barry Bonnitcha from Styleride Seats receiving a recognition of services to the Industry award, as well as Tom Calvert from Tassie Link taking out the ABCU Achiever award, winning a trip to the BIC Conference to attend the National Awards – our congratulations to the both of them!

Geoff Lewis and the team at Tasbus also need to be congratulated for another fantastic event, and we look forward to attending in 2012.

A hearty “well done” to Peter Linnegar and Anthony Maher from “Bus Numbers”, taking out the prize for first place – the Heritage Finance donated prize will make a great addition to their existing set of golf clubs.

The Volvo Australia Cocktail party heralded the official launch of the conference with the new Minister for Transport, Gladys Berejiklian in attendance. The Minister was well versed on the issues facing the Bus Association and its members, and the members were appreciative of her positive comments.

With the weather turning to torrential rain on the Saturday, the conference sessions were well attended by the members. Congratulations to Michael for lasting until the final session and his involvement on a discussion panel on bus specification, livery and finance.

 The members got to kick up their heels at the annual dinner – with the Hawaiian theme bringing a much needed touch of colour to contrast the bleak weather outside.

Congratulations to Daryl, Vic, Matt, Brett, Melissa and all the BusNSW staff for another fantastic conference!

Riding in aid of Breast Cancer Network Australia (BCNA) a grand total of $21,600 was raised through the generous donations received from friends, colleagues and clients.

Congratulations to David Mead and the team at Volvo Bus and Coach for winning the “BIC 2010 Supplier of the year” award, with Heritage Finance (Qld Supplier of the year) a proud runner up.

On a side note  – we wish to thank Guy Sebastian, Australian Pop Star and all round nice guy for posing for a photo with Heritage’s Finance own “Rock Star”, Candice Adam, along with Dominica Sprock from Interline Bus Service – well done girls!

Over 100 guests enjoyed a truly unique experience aboard Sydney’s Premier Harbour Cruise Vessel, with our female guests receiving a lovely memento from Tiffany’s to commemorate the night, while six lucky men scored a bottle of Grange Hermitage in our raffle.

“The goal was to celebrate our first 5 years of operation under the Heritage Finance banner, and to show to our clients that we really appreciate the support that they have given to Heritage Finance over that time.
